Corporate Social Responsibility is a management concept whereby companies blend social and environmental matters in their business operations and communications with their stakeholders. The top 3 companies with the most eminent involvement in CSR are Infosys, Mahindra & Mahindra, and Tata Chemicals.
To begin with Infosys, the company spent nearly Rs. 360 crore towards several CSR schemes this year. COVID-19 relief work dominated the activities, with education and health-related programs following after. Highlights of the Foundation’s interventions in the past include the initiation of Aarohan Social Innovation Awards, rejuvenation of water bodies in Karnataka, facilitating the pursuit of access and excellence in sports through the GoSports Foundation, and disaster relief efforts in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala.
Following Infosys, no other Indian corporate comes close to Mahindra & Mahindra when it comes to commencing the charge for climate change action and sustainable business systems. The company spent INR 93.50 crores on CSR initiatives during the financial year 2018–19. Sustainability runs through the ethos here.
Tata Chemicals being among the top 3 companies, increases the quality of life and promotes sustainable and multicultural development in the communities; where it functions is central to Tata Chemicals’ corporate philosophy. Tata Chemicals allocates INR 12 crores on CSR annually, and wildlife conservation estimates for 30% of the budget of the TCSRD.
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) enables businesses large and small to establish positive change. When companies decide to do what is right not only for their bottom line, but they also benefit financially while building trust with consumers. The more socially responsible the company, the more supportive the community and consumers become.
Corporate social responsibility assists in building trust, raising awareness, and stimulating social change. Corporate social responsibility comes in numerous forms. Even the smallest company can influence social change.
