Sitting by a calm lake alone, enjoying the mild breeze and the silence it carries, watching the clear blue sky. The view is so exquisite that it makes me question the existence of heaven. Suddenly, a bustling noise starts to amplify slowly. Disturbed by the voice, I try to shut my ears, and as I scream in agony, I get pulled out of my imagination and wake up. I always wondered why the brain showed me such beautiful scenes in my dreams when there was so much chaos around me. Worried by the thought, I rub my eyes and leave the bed.

Looking at myself in the mirror, I can easily recall all the bad incidents I witnessed yesterday, but I can barely remember a good one. I wash away all the questions as I splash water on my face. Running late for work, I leave the house hastily, and it starts to rain as I make my way to the bus stop. I convinced myself it was just a drizzle, and I could reach the bus stop before getting drenched. The risk I took was calculated, but man, I’m terrible at math. It began to rain fiercely, and as I opened my bag to grab the umbrella, I recognized I was equally awful at remembering to bring the necessities.

I didn’t want to be late for work, so I ran with all my energy and reached the bus stop. Completely drenched in the rain, I couldn’t ask for a better start to my day. Finally, the bus arrived, and I boarded it. Soon the bus conductor asked me for a ticket, and I realized I had also forgotten my wallet. I remembered carrying some spare cash in my back pocket. I went in total confidence to grab it. The unfortunate note was so wet that it split in half as I tried to pull it out. I stood dejected as I had no cash to pay for my ticket and would be late for work, too.

Suddenly, the bus conductor handed me my ticket and informed me that someone had already paid for it. I asked the conductor who did this, but he kept that person’s identity secret. I didn’t know who helped me then, so I felt grateful to everyone I saw on the bus as I glanced around. Sitting in my seat, I received answers to the question that troubled me in the morning. I learned that beautiful things always occur around us, but we ignore them because we’re too busy. The turmoil in the world frequently overshadows the generosity in our hearts. We can find tranquillity by instilling in ourselves the value of being kind and helpful to others. You don’t have to be a superhero to spread smiles. Even a small act of kindness can make someone’s day. Let us choose to spread love and be more conscious of the beautiful things in the world.
