I can’t believe its been more than a year since www.connectfor.org went live! I remember when we started out, just two of us, a white board a couple of ideas and almost no technological skills!

It was the 4th of December 2015 and we really wanted ConnectFor to go live on the 5th of December 2015 as it was international volunteer’s day! Our tech partners, were working hard to get our website up and running before the deadline. At about 7 pm Shloka and I went home thinking that there is no way the website is going to launch tomorrow! At about midnight Shloka called me saying that our tech partners have managed to incorporate all are feedback and our portal is ready to go live! I remember feeling “Shit this is actually real! The concept, the design, the user flow, the hours of brain storming all came down to this simple website!” I also remember feeling a little excited but very nervous, what if it doesn’t work, what if there isn’t a market for it?

Just like any start up, it took a while before the project kicked off in full swing! This year has taken us through a lot of ups and downs. I remember in our first month only 48 people had signed up to the platform; that never discouraged us it only motivated us to work harder, think better and believe more! This process only made us more invested in the project and made us understand how to improve operations, service offerings and ourselves more! We now have about 48 people signing up every few days! Without charging a single rupee to any volunteer or NGO partner we have helped people give over 3000 volunteer hours and have helped over 90 NGOs save more than 11 Lakh rupees.

I feel this one year of ConnectFor only marks the beginning of what is going to be an incredible journey! It has only shown us a glimpse of what we can achieve and how as 20 something year old’s we can impact the lives of thousands of beneficiaries. We have been lucky enough to find some of the best people to work with, each of them bringing amazing ideas, values and energy to the team. We have also had the privilege of working with some of the most supportive and encouraging partner NGOs and corporates.

On a personal note ConnectFor has helped me live my high school motto “Dare to Dream and learn to excel”. At the one year mark of ConnectFor, I feel proud of what we have achieved but I also feel excited about what is yet to come. So stay tuned for lots for more events and opportunities from ConnectFor.
