Letter to ConnectFor — Anuradha Gopal

Anuradha Gopal, our Alumni from the Ambassador Program of 2018–19 shares a heartfelt letter with us, to share her experience at CF Ambassador Program!

“Wherever there is a human being, there is an opportunity for kindness.” I wholeheartedly experienced this at each and every event with ConnectFor. Never did I think a simple thought of wanting to volunteer would turn out to be such a life-changing experience. Jumping into the program, not knowing what to expect, I certainly did not know that I was in for one of the best years of my life.

I would like to share a personal story. I had been undergoing severe depression for the past 4 years. I was barely surviving, living a life with no reason, no purpose, no goals and definitely unhappy. Each passing day was just another unfruitful, directionless day. I was absolutely unaware of how I could come of it but was constantly searching for one. Nothing seemed to work out. In August of 2018, I suddenly wanted to explore volunteering. Like any newbie, I was clueless as to where I needed to start. And then ConnectFor came to my rescue. I had just signed up as a volunteer, assuming nothing would come out of it. Thanks to targeted ads, I started receiving ads for ConnectFor and one of the ads was about the Ambassador program. I intuitively felt I should go for it and I was lucky enough to be chosen as one of the ambassadors for the city of Pune.

I was eager, and not to forget, over-enthusiastic, to start my role as an ambassador. I got to work with people of all kinds of demographics, people from different walks of life and in different kinds of ways which bestowed immense learnings and heartfelt moments upon me. Working selflessly toward a cause with like-minded people unfailingly filled with me with an extensive amount of gratitude. This is the kind of bliss I was earning to feel. This is the kind of bliss I felt working toward these life-changing causes.

Through these opportunities, I have felt soul-enriching moments, where mere mortal needs would never seem to bother me. I believe with all my heart that I have found my sense of purpose through ConnectFor. ConnectFor has given my previously dull, stationary, purposeless life a colorful and meaningful momentum.

I’m eternally grateful and indebted to the founders of ConnectFor and to all the people that I have worked with, communicated with or even just exchanged emails with at ConnectFor. Thank you for being a major turning point in my life and for giving me a sense of purpose.
