How frequently have you fallen into the rabbit hole, idly scrolling through movies and reels to get your dopamine fix? How frequently do you try to make your life better by making an arbitrary schedule? How frequently do you promise to do volunteer work but then back out on the big day? Repeatedly engaging in these behaviours causes us to lag behind, and comparing ourselves to others just adds to our sorrow. How can we be effective at job, life, or social obligations while we are experiencing internal instability, let alone balancing these three?

To learn how to balance work, life, and volunteering commitments, we should first begin with understanding our unique role in those areas. Work and life are primarily individualistic, while social activities might be viewed as an act of giving back to the society. Successfully juggling between social and personal commitments can have transforming effects on your perception of life.

Here are a few suggestions to get you started on your volunteer journey,

  1. Weekend activities are not the only times people volunteer. The fundamental goal is to develop the habit of being resourceful, considerate, and a responsible citizen. Small deeds of kindness have the power to significantly alter someone’s life. Possessing the empathy to give back to society is the first step to be a successful volunteer.
  2. Can’t choose between spending time with your loved ones and volunteering? Why not combine both?! Bring your friends and family along for enjoyable social activities so you may enjoy your time with them while feeling accomplished.
  3. No volunteering activity lines up with my work schedule, what to do? ConnectFor has tailored opportunities that are perfect for working individuals. You may participate in a variety of options that provide you with total flexibility, including content writing, graphic design, audiobook recording, and many more.
  4. I don’t have the energy left to out and be a volunteer. ConnectFor provides a variety of online volunteering opportunities that allow you to work with partner NGOs, upskill youngsters through the Career Catalyst program, and educate kids.
  5. But I’m too scared to talk to people how will I volunteer? Volunteers not only upskill others but also themselves. Participating in volunteer work allows you to meet a variety of competent people who can support you in countless ways. Take this as an opportunity to overcome your fear and improve your skills.

Keep in mind that finding a balance between your career, personal life, and volunteer activities is a continuous process. Be kind to yourself and don’t be afraid to reassess your goals and make any necessary modifications. Finding a balanced approach to life can help you achieve happiness in all facets of your life. Who knows, someday your small step can lead you to be the biggest changemaker humanity has ever seen:)

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.”~Marianne Williamson
